WIE WIJ ZIJN

The Jollof Club is ontstaan vanuit de wens om ruimte te creëren — niet alleen een restaurant, maar een plek waar West-Afrikaanse smaken, cultuur en verhalen met aandacht en trots samenkomen.

Onze keuken is geworteld in West-Afrikaanse tradities en wordt gevormd door seizoensproducten, creatieve technieken en de bredere Afrikaanse diaspora. Wat wij bieden is intiem en gedeeld: lange tafels, een open keuken, muziek, ritme en gesprek. Eten is het vertrekpunt, maar verbinding is waarom mensen blijven.

The Jollof Club is opgericht door chef en auteur Nicolas Aquaa en hospitality-ondernemer Bunmi Okolosi. Wat begon als pop-ups en samenwerkingen is in de loop der jaren uitgegroeid tot een helder concept met een betrokken publiek, herhaalde vraag en een gedeeld gevoel dat het tijd is voor een vaste plek.

Kom voor het eten. Blijf voor het gevoel.

WAAR STAAN WE NU

De afgelopen jaren is The Jollof Club stap voor stap opgebouwd. Via pop-ups, culturele evenementen en samenwerkingen hebben we het concept steeds opnieuw getest — in echte ruimtes, met echte gasten.

Deze momenten zijn structureel uitverkocht. Nog belangrijker: ze leiden tot terugkerende bezoekers, mensen die het er over hebben en een gemeenschap waarin door iedereen steeds dezelfde vraag wordt gesteld: wanneer komt er een vaste plek?

Dat moment is nu aangebroken.
De locatie is vastgelegd. Het concept, de operatie en de financiële structuur zijn uitgewerkt. Wat rest is de laatste stap: iets tijdelijks duurzaam en permanent maken.

In plaats van te haasten of te forceren, kiezen wij ervoor deze stap te zetten op een manier die past bij hoe The Jollof Club altijd is opgebouwd — met zorg, verantwoordelijkheid en samen met de community.

WAT WE GAAN REALISEREN

We bouwen aan het permanente thuis van The Jollof Club. En waar kunnen we dit beter doen dan in Amsterdam Zuidoost, aan het Bijlmerplein?

Een plek waar straks restaurant, bar, terras en open keuken samenkomen — geschikt voor zowel dagelijks gebruik als grotere culturele bijeenkomsten. Een ruimte die mee kan bewegen met de week en met de seizoenen.

Vanuit deze locatie bieden we:

• lunch en diner

• private dining en catering

• culturele programmering en gecureerde evenementen

• bruiloften en grotere groepsboekingen

Kortom, we geven de Jollof Club samen de vaste plek die het verdiend!

WAAROM CROWDFUNDING — EN WAAROM NU

Crowdfunding stelt ons in staat deze volgende stap te financieren op een manier die past bij onze waarden en bij het publiek dat we de afgelopen jaren hebben opgebouwd. In plaats van uitsluitend te leunen op institutionele financiering, nodigen we onze community en betrokken investeerders uit om deel te nemen via een duidelijke structuur met vaste rente.

Halen we ons minimale doel van €35.000 met deze campagne, zodat we de puntjes op de i kunnen zetten van onze keuken, en kunnen we beginnen met een fijn startkapitaal.

Maar, halen we ons ultieme streefdoel van €70.000, dan kunnen we unieke West-Afrikaanse meubels en lichten aanschaffen om onze Jollof Club helemaal eigen en authentiek te maken!

Dit zorgt voor een gecontroleerde start, met voldoende ruimte om vanaf dag één te focussen op kwaliteit, continuïteit en duurzaamheid.

The Jollof Club was born from a desire to create space — not just a restaurant, but a place where West African food, culture, and stories could be experienced with depth, care, and pride.

Our cooking is rooted in West African traditions and shaped by the seasons, creative technique, and the wider African diaspora. What we offer is intimate and communal: shared tables, open kitchens, music, rhythm, and conversation. Food is the starting point, but connection is the reason people stay.

The Jollof Club was founded by chef and author Nicolas Aquaa and hospitality entrepreneur Bunmi Okolosi. Over time, what began as a series of pop-ups and collaborations has grown into something clearer and more grounded — a concept with a strong audience, repeated demand, and a shared sense that it deserves a permanent home.

WHERE WE ARE NOW

Over the past years, The Jollof Club has been built slowly and deliberately. Through pop-ups, cultural events, and collaborations, we have tested the idea in real spaces, with real guests, again and again.

These moments consistently sell out. More importantly, they create return visits, word-of-mouth, and a community that keeps asking the same question: when will there be a permanent place?

We are now at that point.

The location has been secured at the Bijlmerplein in Amsterdam Zuidoost. The concept, operations, and financial structure have been developed. What remains is the final step: turning something temporary into something lasting.

Rather than rushing or overextending ourselves, we are choosing to take this step in a way that reflects how The Jollof Club has always been built — with care, responsibility, and community at its core.

WHAT WE ARE BUILDING

We are creating the permanent home of The Jollof Club.

A space that brings together a restaurant, bar, terrace, and open kitchen — designed for everyday dining as well as larger cultural gatherings. A place that can evolve throughout the week and throughout the year.

From this space, we will offer:

• lunch and dinner

• private dining and catering

• cultural programming and curated events

• weddings and larger group bookings

This is not about starting something new.
It is about giving a proven concept the space it needs to grow sustainably and with intention.

WHY CROWDFUNDING — AND WHY NOW

Crowdfunding enables us to finance this next step in a way that aligns with our values ​​and the audience we have built up over the past few years. Instead of relying solely on institutional funding, we invite our community and engaged investors to participate through a clear, fixed-rate structure.

If we reach our minimum goal of €35,000 with this campaign, allowing us to put the finishing touches on our kitchen, we can start with a solid initial capital.
